Who can join?
Anyone who is interested in photography, whatever their level of skill or knowledge.
Don’t you need a special camera?
Any sort of camera will do – some of the best club photos have been taken with a smartphone. There is a saying that it is the photographer that takes a good photograph, not their camera!! (Although a bit of a warning…you may get bitten by the gear bug)
What are the benefits of club membership?
- Making new friendships and sharing your interest with like minded people
- Getting encouragement and feedback on your photography
- Learning new skills and techniques
- Trying different types of photography
- The opportunity, if interested, to undertake photographic “distinctions” (awards)
What does the club do?
Summer Shoots
During the summer club meetings are held at different locations around our beautiful island taking photos. These meetings are often followed by a visit to a local pub to socialise and chat about photography.
Tutorials & Techniques
During the winter we have tutorials on all things photo related, such as creative techniques and post processing. We often have presentations from experienced photographers showing their work and sharing their approach.
Competitions
In the winter we also hold competitions, using both local and UK judges. These are a great learning opportunity, even if at first you don’t want to enter your work. We can learn so much from judges feedback and insight.
